the 18th century Enlightenment and 19th century
Romanticism and Realism. First, we will look
at the difference between 17th century and 18th
century literary thought, try to grasp the Enlightenment
philosophy through the works of Montesquieu,
Voltaire, Diderot, and Rousseau, and analyse
the reception process of it in society and its
influence on the next century. Then we will
study the main currents of 19th century French

French sentences in various actual settings,

This course aims at the understanding
of the two main currents of the 19th century
French poetry, Romanticism and Symbolism. On
the basis of the fundamental understanding acquired
in 'Introduction to French Literature 1', we
will do a specific study Romanticism through

We will especially inquire into the significance
of the Romanticism-Classicism debate to study
their individual differences, and on the basis
